GX-Customizer¶

Note

With the GX-Customizer, you offer your customers the option of personalizing products in your shop. You can choose from a variety of form elements, such as input fields, file upload fields and list selection fields.

Creating a Customizer set¶

You can create new Customizer sets in the Gambio Admin under Products > GX-Customizer. Enter a name for the new Customizer set in the Name field and click on Create.

A new Customizer set is created and opened for editing. The new Customizer set initially has no display elements. Input fields and list fields can be inserted into different areas. Each area is displayed as a tab in the shop view.

Under Area, click on Create to create a new area
Enter a name for the new area in the Name field
Enter the width and height of the new area in the Dimensions field

The preset dimensions are already ideal if the Customizer set is to be embedded on the product details page above the price display. If the Customizer set is to be embedded in the product description, the width can be increased up to 760 pixels.

Note

The dimensions mentioned above are guideline values and may vary depending on the theme used.
Click on Create to save the new area

In your new GX-Customizer area, you can create the elements that your customers can personalize. In the order confirmation and on the invoice, the personalized elements are output in the order in which they were created.
Under Element, click on Create
Select the element type from the Type list

An overview of the element types can be found in the following listing.
Enter the width and height of the new element in the Dimensions fields
Enter the distances of the element from the left and right edge of the area in the fields Margin top and Margin left
Enter the name of the element in the Name field
Depending on the element type, additional fields must be filled in; please note the following descriptions of the individual element types
Click on Add to add the element

Text field¶

With the Text field element, you can output descriptive texts that your customers cannot change. Enter the text to be output in the Value field. No further settings need to be made.

Input field¶

The Input field element is available in the variants single-line and multi-line. Single-line input fields are displayed like the Name field, multi-line input fields are displayed like the Value field. Your customers enter personalized text for a product in input fields.

Enter the character limit for the input field in the Max. number of characters field
Activate the checkbox Show name? if the value from the Name field is to be displayed in the Customizer set above the input field
Enter a default value for the input field in the Value field

File upload field¶

Via file upload fields, your customers upload, for example, personalized images or other specifications. The file name of the upload is cryptically encrypted during upload and the file is stored in a secured directory. You can download uploaded files in the order details of the order.

In the Allowed file types field, enter the file extensions that files uploaded by customers may have, separated by commas and without spaces
Enter a minimum size for uploaded files in the Min. file size field
Enter a maximum size for uploaded files in the Max. file size field

With dropdown fields, your customers select from a series of values specified by you.

Activate the checkbox Show name? if the value from the Name field is to be displayed in the Customizer set above the input field
Add new input fields for your default values via the + symbol next to the Value field
Enter the default values in the Value fields

Image¶

Via the Image element, you can add an image to your Customizer set. The image is displayed directly and cannot be changed by your customers. Upload an image from your computer in the Image file field. No further settings need to be made.

Note

The dimensions of GX-Customizer images are not adjusted automatically and cannot be changed afterwards. Upload your image in the size in which it is to be displayed later.

You can assign the Customizer set to your product via the product input mask under Products > Products/Categories.

Select the desired product

The currently selected category is highlighted in blue.
Click on Edit
Select the desired Customizer set from the GX-Customizer Set list
Click on Save or Update at the end of the input mask to save the changes to the GX-Customizer set

Configuring the GX-Customizer¶

Via the Configuration tab, settings for the use of the GX-Customizer can be made. The main focus here is on defining where the so-called Customizer set is displayed and how it is presented. In addition, the number of file uploads can be limited to avoid spam.

Field name	Description
Exclude spaces when calculating the maximum number of characters in text input fields?	If this setting is activated, spaces are not counted towards the character limit.
Show tabs for switching areas on the product details page?	If the box is ticked, the Customizer set can be displayed as a separate tab (see Set position)
Ignore set width and display maximum width in the product details view?	With ✔, the width setting of the Area defined in the set is not used. Instead, the maximum available space in the respective part of the product details page is used. With ✖, the width set in the Area is the maximum width.
Shortening of text entries in overviews	Texts entered by the customer are shortened to the specified number of characters in the shopping cart, on the order confirmation page before completing the order, in the Gambio Admin in the orders overview and in the order details view in the product listing (0 = no shortening). The entire text is still displayed in the set, in the print version of the order confirmation, in the order confirmation e-mail, in the PDF invoice and in the PDF delivery note.
Set position	Defines where exactly on the product details page the Customizer set is displayed. The following settings are available:
	below product description: the set is displayed below the product description
	as a separate tab: a Customize tab is displayed, via which you can switch from the product description to the Customizer set.
	below attribute selection: the Customizer set is displayed in the product details box, below attributes or properties

Number of allowed file uploads per visitor (0 = no limit)	Limits the number of files that can be uploaded via the GX-Customizer.
Period in minutes for which the limit on the number of file uploads applies	How long does the limit defined above apply?

Confirm any changes made by clicking on Save. Via Back you return to the sets overview.
