Installing an Update Package

An Update Package updates your shop across multiple versions — e.g. Update Package 26.06.0 from any shop version between 2.0.7c and 26.05.0.

Important notes

  • Shop version 26.x.x is not compatible with the previously used templates. The template system is no longer available after the update! If a Honeygrid template was used before, its settings are imported into the Honeygrid theme. For other templates, the shop switches to the default theme Malibu without import.
  • The payment methods Payone and Heidelpay are irrevocably removed with the installation of this update!
  • After completing the update, the .htaccess file in the shop's root directory must be updated or newly added.
  • The exact system requirements (PHP, MySQL, MariaDB, PHP extensions) of the target version are listed in its Release Notes.
  • The installation replaces files — custom modifications are lost! Check the compatibility of third-party modules with the target version beforehand.

This update package is version-bound

Make absolutely sure that the version number in the file name of the update matches your existing shop version. It cannot be used as an update for Gambio GX, Gambio 2007 or Gambio 2006. You can find your shop's version number in the administration area under Credits.

Credits menu item Version number under Credits

Notes for updates from old shop versions

Updates from shops before v3.1.x.x

Shop version 3.3.x introduced changes to invoice creation: clicking the Invoice button creates a new invoice with a new invoice number!

MailBeez

If you use MailBeez, it must be updated before the update, otherwise critical errors occur in the shop.

Old templates

The older gambio and EyeCandy templates are no longer supported after the update. Therefore, switch to the Honeygrid template under Shop Einstellungen > Mein Shop before the update. If Honeygrid is not available in your current version, switch directly after the update.

Updates from shop version v2.0: changes to payment modules

  • PayPal: your previous PayPal modules are deactivated. The classic PayPal module (paypal / paypalexpress) is replaced by the PayPal and PayPal Plus module in version 3. Your previous PayPal API credentials cannot be reused — new credentials are available from PayPal (see the PayPal und PayPal Plus chapter of the manual for setup).
  • Moneybookers: no longer available in version 2.1 and newer. Skrill can be used as an alternative (Module > Zahlungsweisen > Sonstige).
  • CC: the old credit card module has been removed from the shop.
  • iclear: this module is no longer part of the shop either.

VRRL

The update package contains all components of the Gambio VRRL update in its current version. Setup details can be found in the Verbraucherrechterichtlinie chapter of the manual.

1. Changelog

A list of the included changes can be found in the enclosed file CHANGELOG.html and in the Release Notes.

2. Backup

First, create a complete backup — both of all files and folders of the shop and of the shop database. If the shop does not work as expected after the installation, you can simply restore the backup. Instructions can be found in the file DATENSICHERUNG.txt.

3. Installation

3.1 Important for Windows users

On Microsoft Windows, the path length limitation can cause problems when unpacking. Therefore, extract all files into a folder as high up in the directory tree as possible, e.g. C:\Gambio.

3.2 Updating shop systems 2.0.7c to 26.05.0

Attention

Make sure you are logged in to the Gambio Admin before installing! The update consists of two steps:

  1. Uploading the files
  2. Calling the Gambio Updater via https://www.example.com/gambio_updater

Both steps must be fully completed for the update to finish!

Upload the entire contents of the Dateien directory from the Shopsystem directory into the root directory of your shop on your FTP server and overwrite the existing files.

3.3 Installing the Filemanager

Upload the entire ResponsiveFilemanager folder (not just its contents) into the root directory of your shop and overwrite the existing files.

Note

Updating the Filemanager is only necessary if the ResponsiveFilemanager folder is part of this package.

3.4 Installing PDFCreator (optional)

The PDFCreator is a standalone module for creating invoices, delivery notes and email attachments (not licensed under the GPL). Copy the entire contents of the PDFCreator folder into the PDFCreator folder in the root directory of your shop and overwrite the existing files.

Note

Updating the PDFCreator is only necessary if the PdfCreator folder is part of this package.

3.5 Updating the shop database

Open your shop via https://www.example.com/gambio_updater (replace www.example.com with your shop's domain) and follow the instructions of the Gambio Updater:

Gambio Updater
Display of the available updates
  1. Log in — with the admin credentials you also use in the shop.
  2. Confirm the updates — click Zur Updates-Konfiguration, tick Versions-Info zur Kenntnis genommen and click Updates durchführen. Wait for the database update to finish.

    Run updates

  3. Delete old files — if applicable, files to be deleted are shown in a list (Download der Löschliste / Dateien downloaden for a backup). Click Fortfahren.

  4. Click Fortfahren again — finally the caches are cleared, which can take a moment.
  5. Click Zum Shop to leave the Gambio Updater.

    Installation completed

Attention

The Versionsauswahl erzwingen (force version selection) button may only be used if a previously started update process was aborted and the updater is now called again.

Force version selection

4. Updating robots.txt

Only necessary if your shop is located in a subdirectory: in the admin area, select Shop Einstellungen > SEO > Robots Datei, click Download and upload the new robots.txt via FTP into the root directory of the domain (not into the shop folder!). The file must be reachable via www.example.com/robots.txt.

5. Updating .htaccess

The .htaccess file in the shop's root directory must be updated or newly added. If you have no custom modifications, simply copy the template from gm/seo_boost_an/.htaccess into the root directory; otherwise reconcile your modifications with that template.

Attention

If you previously made changes to an existing .htaccess file, these must be re-applied.

6. Clearing the browser cache

After the installation, display errors can occur because old content is loaded from the browser cache. Therefore, clear your browser's cache (usually Ctrl+Shift+R).

White page in the admin?

It can happen that only a white page is displayed instead of the Gambio Admin. In this case, clear the browser cache.

7. Updating the email templates

After installing the update package, the original templates for the emails order confirmation, admin: order status change and password confirmation should be restored, as errors can otherwise occur in the shop:

  1. In the administration area, go to Kunden > E-Mails > E-Mail Vorlagen.
  2. For the templates mentioned, select Original wiederherstellen and click OK.
  3. Do this for both the HTML and the text templates in both languages (German and English).
  4. Finally, clear the cache for the email templates under Toolbox > Cache.

Note that custom changes are lost in the process and may need to be re-applied.

8. What's new in this version

You can find the new features of each version in the Release Notes.
